On May 22, a violent confrontation between police and a civilian in Wushi Township, Luchuan County, Guangxi, resulted in multiple deaths and injuries. The official CCP account states that “suspect Wen (male, 30) stabbed two civilians, while five police officers were injured in the course of subduing him” — framing the incident as an unprovoked attack by Wen in which officers were hurt during their response, and making no mention of any police fatalities. However, based on information posted by multiple local residents online, the confrontation was triggered when traffic police attempted to seize Wen’s electric scooter. As of May 23, the incident has left two police officers and one bystander dead.
