“Around 200 Laid-Off Teachers Rally at Heilongjiang Provincial Education Department, Demanding Pension Protections (July 22, 2026)”
On July 22, around 200 laid-off teachers in Heilongjiang Province went to the provincial education department to collectively defend their rights. They demanded that the authorities make up the pension contributions owed for laid-off teachers who have not yet reached the statutory retirement age and do not have social security accounts. They also called for laid-off teachers enrolled in the enterprise employee pension system as flexible workers to receive the same teaching-service allowances, or to have their years of teaching recognized as years of service and counted toward their deemed pension contribution period. In addition, they demanded an increase in the teaching-service allowance provided to veteran teachers belonging to the “1986 group.”
