On July 31, the Douyin account of Zaozhuang Daily, an official media outlet in Zaozhuang, Shandong, posted a video captioned: “Beneath this blue sky, every life deserves reverence.” The post was tagged with hashtags including #RevereLife, #CherishAnimals, and #ProtectAnimals, in what appeared to be a veiled show of support for the “Wangwang incident,” which is currently being suppressed by the Chinese Communist Party. As of August 1, the video had received roughly 40,000 likes and 16,000 comments.
