On July 18, a protesting distributor was forcibly carried away by security guards at the Yili Group headquarters in Fengtai District, Beijing. According to multiple distributors, Yili Group has long delayed payments of promotional fees, rebates, and various subsidies, while also imposing inflated sales targets and frequent forced stockpiling. This has driven many distributors to the brink of collapse, forcing them out of business and into heavy debt. Over the past two years, affected distributors from across the country have staged multiple protests at Yili’s headquarters. In just the past two months alone, distributors have faced violent treatment from Yili, including being dragged, carried away, and sprayed with disinfectant.

On July 16, in Shahe Subdistrict, Tianhe District, Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, a food delivery worker stood on a tow truck, desperately holding onto his electric scooter to prevent city management officers from towing it away. Recently, city management in Shahe has been aggressively seizing vehicles, with many migrant workers having their scooters taken.

On July 17, in Banan District, Chongqing, an elderly person selling homegrown vegetables in the city was forcibly charged a management fee by market administrators, leading to a dispute. Witnesses said that even if the elderly person sold all the vegetables, it would not be enough to cover the fee.

On July 16, in Wu’an City, Handan, Hebei Province, workers at the Yunjialing Coal Mine of Jizhong Energy Handan went on strike to protest the company’s failure to pay housing provident fund contributions. During the protest, workers briefly clashed with the company’s chairman.

On July 17, in Jingyugou Village, Yixing Town, Heshun County, Jinzhong City, Shanxi Province, villagers blocked the entrance of Xindadi Coal Mine to protest against mining activities that have caused cracks in their houses and sinking foundations.

A 3-year-old child, Su Mingxuan, from Zhanjiang, Guangdong, underwent adenoid and tonsil removal surgery at the Affiliated Hospital of Guangdong Medical University on June 27. Although the hospital claimed the surgery was successful, the child was declared brain dead ten days later. The hospital has refused to provide surveillance footage from the operating room and ICU and, as of July 17, has not taken responsibility. The family has been forced to seek help online.

Liu Yangyang, a worker at Lugou Coal Mine under Zhengzhou Coal Group in Henan’s Zhengzhou, died from excessive fatigue after working over ten hours a day for an extended period. As the mining company refused to offer compensation, the deceased worker’s family staged multiple days of protests at the mine demanding accountability. On July 16, the family was sprayed with tap water by the mine’s security guards at the entrance of the facility.
