On June 29, a violent property takeover occurred at the Bankai He Impression residential compound in Shaoyang County, Hunan Province. According to residents, staff from Youjia Property forcibly pushed past protesting homeowners and tore down the community gate without obtaining residents’ consent. The property company was reportedly brought in by an unauthorized homeowners’ committee that had not been elected by the residents. Many suspect the move is related to access to the community’s maintenance funds.

On June 30, we documented five homeowner rights protests that took place in Zhengzhou, Henan. These included demands for homes from owners of unfinished developments such as Sunac Yuhu Chenyuan, Kangqiao Lanxi, Country Garden Times City, and Kangqiao Tingmeifang, as well as a protest by homeowners of Yuanyang Zhenyuan against the developer’s downgrading of promised standards and amenities.

On June 30, in Zibo, Shandong Province, over a hundred retired employees gathered in front of the Qishang Bank building to protest the bank’s withholding of their subsidies.

On June 30, workers from Yinhu Electric Appliance Co., Ltd. in Lianjiang, Guangdong were suppressed by police while petitioning at the city government. Several were taken away. The company had announced its closure in June, owing workers three months of unpaid wages. All 140 factory workers launched a rights defense action on June 1 to demand their pay. Recently, the workers learned that the funds in the owner’s account had been allocated to suppliers by the court.

On June 30, in Xinfeng County, Ganzhou, Jiangxi Province, hundreds of homeowners from the unfinished residential project “Chengnan No. 1” were suppressed by a large number of police officers while blocking the road to demand their homes. Several people were injured or arrested during the crackdown.

On June 30, in Jinan, Shandong, construction workers demanding their wages blocked the entrance of the Shandong branch of China Fifth Metallurgical Group.

On June 26 and 28, villagers of Changban Village in Tianhe District, Guangzhou, Guangdong gathered at the village committee to protest against the demolition.

Jingsheng Garment Factory, located in Dajingtou Village, Dalang Town, Dongguan, Guangdong, has delayed three months of wages for 131 workers. The factory owner has been taken away by the police for tax evasion. On June 28, the workers went together to the Dajingtou Village Committee to demand their unpaid wages.
