“Financial Scandal at RuShang Union in Leling, Shandong: Investors Detained During Protest (Oct 13, 2025)”

The RuShang  Union in Laoling City, Dezhou, Shandong Province collapsed after attracting deposits with promises of high returns, leaving numerous investors with heavy losses. The company’s head has been taken into custody. On October 13, over a hundred investors gathered at the Leling City Government Square to demand the return of their funds but were soon suppressed by the police, with several people detained.

9月22日，河南信阳光山县第三高级中学，为一名跳自杀学生讨说法的家属遭到警察镇压，多人被殴打及抓捕。据家属透露，该学生自杀的原因是因为在学校遭到校长“恐吓及压力”。家属上网寻求帮助，但发现信息根本无法在本地发出，家属到外省发布，也只能发出一些图片，而且很快便遭到删除。                    

On September 22, at Guangshan No. 3 Senior High School in Xinyang, Henan, family members seeking accountability for a student who had died by suicide were suppressed by police, with several beaten and arrested. According to the family, the student took their own life due to “intimidation and pressure” from the school principal. The family tried to seek help online but found that information could not be posted locally; even when posting from outside the province, they could only share a few images, which were quickly deleted.

云南昭通镇雄县康养小镇二期幸福里小区的楼房于七月初开始出现大面积开裂，数百业主持续维权一个月，问题没有得到解决，反而在8月9日遭到警察镇压，至少一名业主遭到抓捕。

In early July, large-scale cracks began to appear in the buildings of the Xingfuli residential community, Phase II of the Wellness Town project in Zhenxiong County, Zhaotong City, Yunnan Province. Hundreds of homeowners have been protesting for a month, but the problem has not been resolved. Instead, on August 9, the protests were suppressed by police, and at least one homeowner was arrested.

7月30日，重庆綦江半山国际小区，业主堵小区大门抗议物业乱收费及殴打业主，被警察强行驱散，至少一名业主遭到抓捕。

On July 30, at the Banshan International residential complex in Qijiang, Chongqing, residents blocked the entrance to the community to protest against arbitrary property management fees and the beating of a resident. They were forcibly dispersed by the police, and at least one resident was arrested.

[Hundreds of Students and Parents in Shaanxi’s Xixian New Area Protest for Days, Multiple People Detained]

On Monday (July 21), a protest initiated by hundreds of students and parents from Xixian New Area in front of the Shaanxi Provincial Petition Bureau, aimed at demanding fair access to education, ended with multiple parents being detained.

According to several parents, the number of admission slots for public high schools in Xixian New Area was severely limited during this year’s high school entrance examination, leaving many students who scored over 600 points unable to enroll in public schools. As a result, they are left with no option but to attend private schools, where tuition fees amount to tens of thousands of yuan per year—an unaffordable burden for many families.

Since last Saturday, hundreds of students and parents have been gathering for consecutive days at the Xixian New Area Administrative Committee and the Shaanxi Provincial Petition Bureau, calling for an increase in public high school admissions.
