Between September 8 and 13, the Yesterday Project documented incidents in Kunming, Yunnan; Haikou, Hainan; Nanning, Guangxi; and other cities, where local authorities deployed chengguan—urban management officers—and police to drive away street vendors, resulting in clashes.
