On July 30, in Liuquan Township, Lingchuan County, Shanxi Province, large numbers of villagers were forced to take shelter in tunnels after the Chinese Communist Party launched its Long March 6A rocket from Taiyuan, with debris expected to fall within the township. By contrast, countries such as the United States generally try to direct rocket debris into the ocean, deserts, or other uninhabited areas to avoid endangering residents. In the past, the CCP has even allowed debris from older rockets using highly toxic propellant to fall directly onto residential areas.
