On August 3, a disaster victim from Yanjiang Street in Yunbiao Town, Hengzhou, Nanning, Guangxi, told volunteers that in the nearly one month between the reservoir collapse on July 6 and August 3, the local government had provided her with only five jin—approximately 2.5 kilograms—of rice, along with a small amount of bottled water and instant noodles. Another disaster victim at the Yunbiao Town agricultural market said that she had received only bottled water, instant noodles, and bread—not even any rice.
According to an informed netizen, many disaster victims living around Yanjiang Street and Liangyou Road in Yunbiao Town reported receiving very limited relief supplies. One possible reason is that most residents of these two streets had relocated there from elsewhere and may have been neglected in the local distribution of disaster relief materials.
In addition, a villager from Pantang Village in Qintang District, Guigang, said that between July 6 and 9, their family of six received a total of only three buckets of instant noodles and ten bottles of mineral water.
However, according to Chinese Communist Party propaganda, relief supplies in the affected areas were abundant. If so, where did those supplies go? Meanwhile, many members of the public have reported that when they attempted to donate or transport relief supplies to the disaster-stricken areas, they were obstructed or turned away by local authorities.
