「云南曲靖村民围堵官员，反对撤校（2026.08.17）」8月17日晚，云南省曲靖市富源县十八连山镇卡锡村委会老坞依村，上百名村民围堵一名地方官员，抗议当地政府拟将村内唯一的老坞依小学撤并搬迁。村民表示，村内多数家庭由留守老人照顾孩子，一旦学校撤并，老人将无力长期远距离接送学生。村民要求，如确需并校，必须落实校车接送，低年级学生不得被强制寄宿，并完善相关配套保障；如政府决定强制合并，应出示县、市或省级教育部门加盖公章的正式批复文件。

On the evening of August 17, more than one hundred villagers in Laowuyi Village, under the Kaxi Village Committee in Shibalian Mountain Township, Fuyuan County, Qujing City, Yunnan Province, surrounded a local official to protest the local government’s plan to merge and relocate Laowuyi Primary School, the village’s only school.
Villagers said that in many local families, children are being cared for by elderly relatives because their parents work away from home. If the school is closed and merged with another school, these elderly caregivers would be unable to transport the children over long distances on a regular basis.
The villagers demanded that if the school merger is deemed necessary, school-bus transportation must be provided, younger pupils must not be forced to board at school, and adequate supporting arrangements must be put in place. If the authorities decide to impose the merger, they should produce a formal approval document bearing the official seal of the county-, municipal-, or provincial-level education authorities.
