A 3-year-old child, Su Mingxuan, from Zhanjiang, Guangdong, underwent adenoid and tonsil removal surgery at the Affiliated Hospital of Guangdong Medical University on June 27. Although the hospital claimed the surgery was successful, the child was declared brain dead ten days later. The hospital has refused to provide surveillance footage from the operating room and ICU and, as of July 17, has not taken responsibility. The family has been forced to seek help online.

Liu Yangyang, a worker at Lugou Coal Mine under Zhengzhou Coal Group in Henan’s Zhengzhou, died from excessive fatigue after working over ten hours a day for an extended period. As the mining company refused to offer compensation, the deceased worker’s family staged multiple days of protests at the mine demanding accountability. On July 16, the family was sprayed with tap water by the mine’s security guards at the entrance of the facility.

On the evening of July 16, after three consecutive days of power outages at Jiabao City Shangcheng Community in Sanqiao, Xi’an, Shaanxi, residents, unable to endure the scorching 43°C heat, used shared bikes as barricades to block traffic on the West Third Ring Road.

On July 16 and 17, hundreds of workers at Jinle Dyeing and Weaving Co., Ltd. in Jiaxing, Zhejiang, went on strike for consecutive days to protest the company’s relocation of the factory without offering compensation to the workers. During the protest, workers used trolleys from the workshop as barricades to block the factory gates.

On July 14 and 15, due to frequent power outages, hundreds of residents from the Sena Oasis residential complex in Xianyang, Shaanxi, blocked the road for two consecutive days in protest. Notably, the residents used shared bicycles as barricades during the protest.

On July 15, in Shenzhen, Guangdong, workers at Guanbo Technology Industrial Co., Ltd. staged a collective protest after the boss defaulted on wage payments and sold off the factory. The workers blocked the factory gates, demanding their wages be settled first. However, due to the boss repeatedly breaking promises, the workers still had not received their wages by late that night.

On July 14, in Teng County, Guangxi, slaughterhouse operators brought live pigs to the county government to protest against the local authorities charging a “disinfection fee” of 100 to 200 yuan per trip for pig transport trucks.

On the afternoon of July 14, Xiao Chuncai, a villager from Team 10 of Dongsheng, Shuaijun Town, Huarong County, Yueyang, Hunan Province, was chased by two traffic officers from the Fourth Traffic Police Squad of Huarong County to the doorstep of his home for riding a bicycle without a helmet. The officers sprayed him with pepper spray and beat him with batons, resulting in his death on the spot. After the incident, angry villagers surrounded the two officers. By that evening, a large number of police arrived in the village and forcibly took the two officers away.

On the morning of July 15, at the morning market in Hangtou Town, Pudong, Shanghai, urban management officers drove around seizing vegetables from vendors, quickly filling up their vehicle. However, they failed to grab any meat, as the meat vendors managed to run away quickly.
